India’s largest project to restore water bodies

105 sites. 25 cities. 5000+ employee volunteers.

As part of the World Water Day celebrations, L&T employees initiated a massive project to restore 105 water bodies across 25 cities in India and one site in Colombo, Sri Lanka. This huge task of clearing up ponds and tanks, cleaning wells, strengthening embankments with a financial commitment of close to Rs. 60 lakhs will be handled by over 5000 employees,  making it a remarkable instance of mass employee volunteerism. Some of the leading cities that will benefit from this programme are New Delhi, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Kanpur, Pune, Ranchi, Vizag and Chennai.

Speaking about the event Mr. S N Subrahmanyan, Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director said, “Globally, water scarcity is emerging as an extremely serious problem and, as one of the foremost builders of water infrastructure, we have taken the lead to drive home the message that every drop is vital for our survival… I am glad that so many of our employees have taken the responsibility to contribute their time and effort for this very noble cause.”
